I started drawing at 18 months old, drawing over my mother's artwork. I believed at the time that I was copying it, but in reality it was just scribble. As a small child I took a pen and paper everywhere with me, always drawing.
Later on at around the age of 10 years old I was given a sketchbook and a pack of texta's. I drew plein air at picnics and family outings every chance I got.

I am from Warrnambool, born in 1960.
At 20 years old I was commissioned to paint a race horse, my first art sale!
In the mid 80's I moved to Melbourne and joined, first the Cosmopolitan Art Group, then was nominated in to the Sherbrooke Art Society.

By this time I was entering art shows and exhibiting in galleries regularly.
I lived in the Melbourne suburbs for 16 years, then moved back to Western Victoria, joining the Portland Art Society. Now I'm back in my home town and am a member of the Warrnambool Art Society.

- Arthur Esam, a well known Australian artist, (painted in 1850 - 1934) is my distant relative on my mother's side.
As well as having my mum as an artist and two of my aunties on my fathers side, you can say "It's in my blood"
- and I can say "I am glad it is".

It makes me happy!
